I've taken up an interest in hiking

If you like hiking man, you need to make a trip out to Texas and the Big Bend National Park. Some of the most beautiful scenery you have ever laid eyes on, not to mention some of the roughest terrain and challenging hiking trails in the state.

    Shitty Joke Thread

A Taliban Army platoon was on patrol when the commander noticed a lone U.S. Marine standing on a hilltop in their area. The commander told two of his soldiers to go take out the Marine, so they dropped their packs and promptly ran as fast as they could toward him. Just before they got to the top, the Marine ran over the other side of the hill. The two soldiers followed. For the next few minutes there were screams and dust flying in the air. Then as quick as it had started, it stopped and the Marine came up on the hilltop. He brushed off his cammies, straightened his cover, crossed his arms and stood there looking at the Taliban soldiers. The infuriated commander called for a squad to go get the Marine. They promptly ran as fast as they could toward him. Just before they got to the top, the Marine ran over the other side of the hill. The squad followed, and for the next few minutes there were screams and dust flying in the air. Then as quick as it had started, it stopped and the Marine came up on the hilltop. Brushed off his cammies, straightened his cover, crossed his arms and stood there looking at the Taliban soldiers once again. The commander was really hot now. He ordered the rest of his platoon to attack the Marine. Determined that Taliban soldiers were far superior to one lone U.S. Marine, they had blood in their eyes as they ran up the hill. Just before they got to the top, the Marine ran over the other side of the hill. The bloodthirsty soldiers followed. For many minutes there were screams and dust flying in the air. It continued and continued. Finally, one lone Taliban soldier came crawling back to the commander. His uniform was torn, cuts were all over his body. The commander asked for a report. The lone soldier, trying to catch his breath, replied in a forceful and trembling voice: "Sir,...run,...it's a trick. There are TWO of them!!"

    If you were the President...

I have the mystery man killed for his insolence. Then I find a way for his money to reach public coffers where I then use it to build my new statue to myself. 17 Trillion dollar statue made of some substance that hasn't even been revealed to the public yet.

    SPARTACUS!

Its about the slave rebellion led by Spartacus during the days of the Roman Republic. Its supposedly one of the events that lead to the fall of the republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. Its ultra graphic and lots of fun, with above par acting and a well formed story.

    Pain Tolerance

I'm pretty tolerant of pain. The sole exception is blisters. They are my kryptonite.

    Am I stupid?

If you go through life standing in front of the fan, the shit is going to hit you. You're right about needing trust. You can't sit there expecting anyone and everyone to stab you in the back because that kind of negativity is going to keep decent people from even wanting to have anything to do with you. It's a rare person who extends you trust without expecting trust back. You have to give trust to receive trust in 9/10 cases. Like I said above, though, the key to developing healthy relationships you can put trust in is boundaries. As for your money, do what you gotta do with it. It's your money and none of us is qualified to tell you how to manage it (as far as I know).

    Am I stupid?

Dude you can have money and still be happy. You make your own choices in life. One of those choices is how you use your money. Sure, you're only going to attract superficial people if you buy your friendships and relationships. You can't fear having wealth though. The fear of contrast is what keeps a lot of wealthy people from having friendships with poor folks. My advice on that account is spend freely to have fun, and if entertaining others brings you joy then do it. It does for me. I spend half my modest paychecks on other people because it brings me happiness to see others being happy. It's all about moderation and boundaries. Only you can see what those need to be and with whom. You have to consider who you are at heart, and what you wear the mask for. The abuse of your trust seems to have led to your desire for control over every facet of your life. You wear a mask of douchebaggery to keep people at arms length, irritating them into despising you. I know what that's like. I wore a mask of intricate lies to cover the fact that I was a cruel abuser of people's self worth and trust. I was only that way because my own trust and self worth were abused by others. You have to be honest with yourself and then be honest with others, and face the hurt. Life is painful, but unless we confront that pain we will never be able to find happiness. With people, its all about the boundaries you set. Its perfectly normal to keep up a wall with total strangers, but as you get to know someone, you have to reevaluate the boundaries and let people in bit by bit. If you just don't have anything in common beyond the surface, then you let the boundaries stay where they are, and hold that person to that distance maybe as a casual acquaintance or workplace friend. If they prove untrustworthy or disrespectful, then you reset the boundaries and keep them away. Then you reevaluate what got you into that relationship. Maybe it can be salvaged if you confront the person about their behavior. Maybe not. Mourn the loss of what could have been, then move on. It's harder than all that, I know, but it is where it has to start to build healthy relationships. Just speaking for myself, I could care less how much money you have. I choose to talk to you and associate with you because, while irritating as fuck sometimes, you're a pretty cool person who is funny and entertaining to talk to. I hope some of this helps you. BTW, the third richest man on the planet, Warren Buffett, lives in a house he paid 30,000 dollars for in a middle class neighborhood and drives a Honda. You can be rich as a king, and still live humbly. Dewey said it right.
